Farhan Shah and SufiOz are Australia’s foremost Sufi music fusion group, blending ancient sufi music together with contemporary sounds. Using SA artists together with interstate members for larger shows. Farhan Shah (dubbed the Pakistani Pavarotti) has performed in Dubai, Canada, Portugal, Singapore, Newzealand, UK and around Australia and is regarded as the leading Indian/Pakistani Diaspora singer in Australia. he was awarded MusicSA Awards UNESCO City of Music best international collaboration in 2020, Arts and Cultural Award Winner in 2021 SA Governor’s Multicultural Awards and has been the recipient of several grants from the SA Music Office and in 2022 received Australia Council funding to tour to Sydney and Brisbane with SufiOz.
SufiOz have performed extensively for multicultural communities of Australia as well as Adelaide Festival Theatre, Her Majesty’s Theatre, Womadelaide (2022) Nexus Arts, WoodFolk Festival Brisbane, National Folk Festival Canberra, Denmark Festival of the Voice WA, Sydney Sacred Music festival, OZ Asia (Jaipur Literature festival), Adelaide Town Hall, Sold out Adelaide Fringe Festival shows, Fundraising events and many council and community concerts nationwide.
The music is a blend of traditional, classical and modern musical instruments and styles merging Sufi music with world music sounds. His talented Team of Syrian, French, Chilean, Japanese, Irish and Fijian heritage share an affinity for Sufi music. They reflect 800-year traditions in a modern context, promoting peace, tolerance and respect in ecstatic live shows.
