Kegelstatt Ensemble
Kegelstatt (skittle alley) is the subtitle of Mozart’s Trio for clarinet, viola and piano, composed, according to legend, in a single day after a game of skittles with friends. The themes of friendship and pleasure inherent in Mozart’s skittle alley story are central to the Kegelstatt philosophy, along with a mission to discover and present rare and great chamber music for unusual combinations of instruments.
The performing ensemble evolves according to the repertoire for each concert series and drawn from an Australian-wide network of long-time friends and artists formed over the years since the ensemble was founded in 2006. Kegelstatt has appeared in the Port Fairy music festival, St. Peter's Cathedral, Elder Hall Lunchtime and regularly in Melbourne Recital Centre's Local Heroes series.
