Tarrawatta Trio
Celia Craig - Oboe & Cor Anglais
Thomas Marlin - Cello
Michael Ierace – Piano
The name Tarrawatta originates from the land and people of Eden Valley in the Barossa, referencing both the traditional owners and first pioneers on the land where the Trio first performed at Collingrove Homestead, Angaston, using the historic 1913 Weber Baby Grand piano. This was by permission of the National Trust of South Australia, for whom Celia is Resident Artist. Tarrawatta was one of the very first groups to play in the stunning new North Adelaide Baroque Hall, and performed for VIP guests at Government House at the invitation of Her Excellency The Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia.
Limelight Magazine awarded Tarrawatta's debut at North Adelaide Baroque Hall five stars:
“Here was chamber music playing at its best; it was persuasive and powerful, delivered with dynamic precision and appropriately driven and cantabile in turn. Marlin really ‘sang’ in the central sun filled adagio, whilst Ierace played throughout with dynamic precision… Celia Craig’s usual seamless eloquence… so intimate and personal that listening was like eavesdropping on musicians playing for themselves…” (Brett Allen-Bayes, Limelight, Dec 5 2022)
